Tiling in Melbourne
Tiling is finish work: it is the surface you see every day, so lines, levels and grout matter. A good tiler plans the layout before the first tile goes down, and it shows in the corners and cuts.
For bathrooms, remember that waterproofing comes before tiling and is its own specialised job. If your project includes a shower or wet area, submit a waterproofing job too, or ask tilers whether their quote includes a licensed waterproofer.

Common questions
Tiling questions, answered straight
How should I describe a tiling job for accurate quotes?
Square metres (even rough), the tile size and type if chosen, whether old tiles need removing, and photos of the space. Removal and surface preparation are often the difference between quotes.
Who supplies the tiles?
Either way works. Many customers choose and buy tiles themselves, and the tiler supplies adhesives, grout and trims. Say which way you want to go in the job description, and order roughly ten percent extra for cuts and breakage.
Can I tile over existing tiles?
Sometimes, if the existing surface is sound and heights work with doors and fixtures. It saves demolition cost but is not always the right call. A tiler will tell you honestly once they see photos.
My shower grout keeps going mouldy. Is regrouting enough?
If the waterproofing behind the wall is intact, regrouting with a quality grout and new silicone usually solves it. If tiles are drummy or the wall is soft, there may be a leak behind, which is a bigger conversation.
